What Type Of Golfer Are You

Posted by Mark Allen

Golfers fall into one of 4 categories:

Untrained Swing and Untrained Mind. This is the golfer who has never had a lesson and has never thought much about how to approach the game. The complete beginner generally.
Trained Swing and Untrained Mind. This golfer has had lessons and improved his/her ball striking on the range but doesn't seem to be able to convert this into lower scores.
Untrained Swing and Trained Mind. We have all been beaten by this golfer. They don't really strike the ball well and there putting never seems that good but they manage to beat you!
Trained Swing and Trained Mind. This is the elite. Tiger Woods in 2000 and Anika Sorenstam in her prime.
The majority of club golfers fall into category 2. They have either read tips in magazines or had lessons from the local PGA Pro but as mentioned above, they never seem to get the rewards their effort deserves.

How Does This Golfer Improve?

By improving how the mind works on the golf course we can see great improvements in scores. These changes don't need to be dramatic but the following tips will be a great start.

Over the next few weeks I will explain how to improve your mental approcah on the golf course.

Next week we will cover the pre-shot routine.
