Mark Allen has been playing golf for over 25 years, having started at the age of 3. As an amateur he played at club and county level and highlights included winning the Nottinghamshire County Stroke play and Match play Championships in 2000 and 2001 and being crowned Sheffield amateur Stroke play Champion in 2001.
He has held course records at Hallowes Golf Club and High Leigh Golf Club and the lowest handicap he achieved whilst an amateur was +2.
After having turned professional in 2003 he played on the Sunshine Tour, PGA Europro Tour, Challenge Tour and various mini tours with four professional tournament wins.
Mark is a fully qualified PGA Professional and an ASQ qualified coach. Although Mark continues to play in PGA North Region events (finishing 2nd on the Assistants Order of Merit in 09). During his PGA qualification Mark gained a distinction as part of his coaching module. Since qualifyling Mark has attended courses such as "Long Term Athlete Development of Junior Golfers" and "Preparing Your Players To Compete", whilst also taking time to read endless amounts of golf swing related books.
Mark is also a qualified practitioner of the mental game and holds a PGA certificate in Golf Psychology Coaching.
Throughout Mark's amateur career and much of his professional career he has been coached by Peter Cowen and has carried much of Pete's techniques into his own coaching.
Mark recently left Hillsborough Golf Club in Sheffield to take over the Nevada Bob's Golf Store in Wilmslow, Manchester. He is able to teach in store but is currently concentrating on the retail and custom fit side of the business.
